Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative - Taproom Expansion

Invest in a Brewery for the Community

Broken Clock Brewing is a member-owned brewery in Minneapolis that creates high-quality beer through collaboration and service within the community. Members of the Cooperative share the common vision of making this venture a meaningful experience for all its members.

Business Plan

Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative is a 100% member-owned brewery with over 1,100 member-owners. We self-distribute our beer to restaurants and liquor stores,  have beer, merchandise and off-sale available in our taproom, and soon will have a private rental space to host weddings, birthday parties, business meetings and more. Building on 7 years of success, starting from community brewing parties and organically growing into a tasting room and eventually into a  taproom, this new facility will allow us to bring our beer to more Twin Cities beer fans by expanding into 12 and 16oz cans.

From the beginning, we have made it a priority to be an active participant in building the community. Your investment allows us to grow our partnerships and invest more in relationships with organizations and small businesses who share our values. Our partnerships with Tiny Footprint, Gus Dean Coffee, Brewing Change Collaborative, and Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters have played a key role in our success.

The History of Broken Clock

The idea for the Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative came when Jeremy Mathison started working in corporate America in the hotel industry, and quickly realized how toxic the environment was for his employees. The idea of punching a clock and working just to get to the weekend was not the vision that he had for a fulfilling life. He wanted to create a business that works for employees, not the other way around. Jeremy decided the cooperative model would be the best way to bring power to the employees, and after many brainstorming sessions with friends, Jeremy Mathison punched the corporate clock one last time, and created Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative.

Every member of the Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative is more than just a shareholder, we are an integral part of our community of change. The brewery has been thriving since its opening in 2017, with many fan favorites on tap, including: Red Coats Blood Orange IPA, Pocket Watch Pecan Brown Ale, RISe Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout and the Queen Of Tarts Sour Ale series.

In addition to brewing amazing beer, we are also known for our Messenger series, which highlights BIPOC persons throughout history. This series was inspired by the desire to not only speak on the dissonance of America’s penchant for white privilege/preservation and its dearth of black existence, but to ascend and become agents of much-needed change.
